What sets us apart from our fellow premium burger restaurants is our story. Our story begins with two brothers who want to recreate their summer experiences on the beach. This dream transformed into a chain of fast-food franchises in the United States and then transitioned to Canada. And now, it is currently one of the fastest-growing fast-food franchises in Canada.
About Franchisee
My name is Harpreet Khera, and I was born and raised in England before making the big move to Canada in 1994. I'm a 41-year-old married man and the proud father of three daughters. Since I was ten, my parents have owned various businesses such as Dollar Stores and Kitchen Ware shops. As I got older, I realized that I, too, wanted to follow in their entrepreneurial footsteps.
When did you start your entrepreneurship journey? Did you do anything else before this journey? What have been some challenges you have experienced as an entrepreneur?
I started my own transportation business in 2005 and grew into other business ventures. As an entrepreneur, I have encountered challenges finding employees and navigating through slow times.
What made you choose Boardwalk?
I came across Boardwalk through a friend who was interested in Boardwalk but could not pursue becoming a franchisee due to family reasons. He told me about Boardwalk; I tried the food and loved it, so I decided to open one up.
What do you like about the restaurant franchisee business?
I like the concept of a franchise, the design, the setup of everything, and the ingredients to the equipment.
What does success look like? What has been your biggest success so far?
My biggest success so far is having the same business for the last 12 years and keeping it afloat through all the Challenges, i.e., COVID-19.
What should the Milton community expect from you and your team as you open the first Boardwalk restaurant in Milton?
The people in Milton should be excited to have a new Burger place they can dine in Comfort or take out. Our staff has been trained in all the preparations, cooking, and customer service to create an amazing experience.
What's your favorite book, movie, or quote?
My favourite movie is karate kid one.
Who is someone you admire?
I really admire Jeff Bezos. He started a business from his garage and made it into one of the largest companies in the world.
What advice can you give to future entrepreneurs?
Anyone thinking about becoming an entrepreneur should work hard and learn from mistakes. You will make mistakes but learn from them and grow.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family.
